Our condolences to Grace, Julie, John, Peter and their families. Julie, I will always remember your dad as a man who lived life to the fullest with his love of family, his wonderful sense of humour, his supportive nature and his zest for life. Shakespeare wrote in King Lear, "Man must endure his going hence even as his coming hither; ripeness is all." meaning that we are all born and we all die--it is what we do with the part in between that is important: ripeness. Your father understood that and lived his life accordingly. The ripeness evident in his life was a gift to those who knew him and makes his loss most keenly felt by those who loved him. Dave & Grace lived just behind us. They had two Westies, we had one. Before this, I hadn't even heard of this breed. We occasional talked over the fence. Later on, we saw Dave & Grace at a ballroom dance we often attended. We had many happy occasions together taking lessons. Dave was always seemed to be happy & willing to help anyone. Mary & I were putting together a car rally for our Kitchener church & we needed a test pilot for the run . . . Dave volunteered to spend a few hours going through the trip with us. His help made the rally a success.

It was at a pharmacy in Waterloo. Dave saw this lovely lady and asked Phil the pharmacist who she was. He couldn't tell him as she was a client and he always kept information confidential. However, Phil told Dave that he would contact her and find out if she was interested in meeting this man. It was Love at First sight!
